Web Content Management
Our Expertise. Your Content.
With over 10 years of managing WCM implementations, we have developed a standardized design and implementation methodology. Though flexible, this approach provides a framework within which effective, professional project managmeent practice ensures a successful outcome.
Step 1 — Design your implementation
In this stage, we develop a clear articulation of the site functionality and creative concept through collaborative workshops and consultation with you. Deliverables from this iterative process include:
- Information Architecture Specification
- Site Theme Interactive Design Specification
- Content Migration Assessment & Migration Plan
- Content Workflow Design Specification
Step 2 – Kick start the content creation process
Our first goal with any WCM implementation is to have a skeleton site available to you as quickly as possible. This enables you to begin the content creation and migration process using the WCM tool right at the start of the project. As the project progresses, you will see the creative design being implemented “before your eyes”.
Step 3 — Implement the design
The design artifacts delivered in Stage 1 will define how your site will be customized. Our WCM Developer will integrate the approved design components into your site. As you are busy entering and updating content in preparation for your site going live, you’ll see progress daily, sometimes hourly as the design is implemented. Functional testing of the customized elements of your site is done at this time as well.
Step 4 — Execute the content migration plan
Your involvement in this process will be dependent on the approach recommendations regarding migration in Stage 1. The approach will also dictate whether a migration test will be executed during this step or not.
Step 5 — Refine the site
As the core elements of the creative design and specific customizations are in place, several Site Walkthroughs are held to ensure that all of the components meet with your approval. During the Site Walkthrough we discuss all aspects of the site; from creative design implementation, to integration components to approval processes. The feedback from these meetings is tracked in our Defect Management system for assignment to the appropriate team member, who could be a developer OR a content owner.
Don’t forget that throughout this entire process we’ve been meeting weekly and your team has been accessing the development site, therefore a lot of ad–hoc testing is occurring as you are building your content and the technical team is implementing the design. In addition to these reviews, we will work with you and members of your team in executing a test plan for the customized elements of your WCM installation.
Step 6 — Implement content management processes & execute training plan
As you build your website using the content management tool, most organizations bypass the approval processes until the main content structure has been created. In order to fully reap the benefits of the content management system, the next step in the deployment of the tool is the assignment of content ownership and definition of approval processes. Our WCM specialists will work with you to determine how best to start and equip you with the training you need to carry forward on your own.
Step 7 — Go Live
The final step in the implementation of your WCM site is migration of the site to your infrastructure (or your hosting service provider). We will work with your IT team to successfully move the new site into a production environment.
