Web Portal Implementation

Follow a Global Leader.

Global leader

Portal - it's where we've been. It's where we're going.

Why Kryos? Kryos’ drive is to become a worldwide authority on Portal. Are
we there yet? No. Are we on our way? Yes.

In the past few years we’ve built what IBM deemed 2007’s Best Portal Solution, and we’ve amassed a stellar team of experts in the wide range of technologies and business practices that make up the practice of Portal. Technologists, business process specialists,  human-computer interface experts, certified project managers; everything it takes to become
a team that constitutes a worldwide authority on Portal.

Here’s the IT world’s worst kept secret: anyone can build a portal; but
read that statement the same way you’d read, “anyone can build a house, or pull a tooth”. Anyone can build a portal. Anyone can build a house.

The question is whether you’d want to live in that house or run your business through that portal. Everything changes though, when you know your home
or office was crafted by one of the world’s leading architects. Likewise everything changes when your working and collaborating in a space crafted
by a world authority in Portal software. That’s why it’s our aim to become
such an authority, and ultimately it’s the answer to the question “Why Kryos?”

Case Study: Viterra

Kryos Systems has provided portal consulting services to Viterra for many years. Viterra is a multi-billion dollar agri-business with operations in grain-handling and marketing, agri-food processing, feed manufacturing, and financial products. IBM portal technology was originally introduced as a means of delivering secured online services to their large group of Producers, Suppliers and Partners on their mainframe infrastructure.

The first project delivered on the portal was a re–write of an existing Oracle–based web application. The goal was to simplify the interface and maintain as much of the back–end in place as possible. We helped educate Viterra on how designing portal applications was fundamentally different than traditional web  applications.

The new portal application reduced the number of interfaces from over 55 web pages to 3 portal pages, a 95% decrease. Additionally, workflow turn-around time reduced by 30-40%, staff overtime decreased, and productivity doubled for their mission-critical grain sampling process.

In keeping with our incremental approach to portals, the second project delivered at Viterra was the Producer Portal targeted to 40,000+ grain producers.

After the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool rebranded as Viterra, the corporate web site was migrated to the portal infrastructure and the intranet was overhauled with a new theme and WCM.
